Alice Edna (Keough) Ward
1905-2000
Alice Edna (Keough) Ward, widow of Raymond D. Ward, died Monday (January 24, 2000) at Glen Hill/ Harbotside Convalescent Center in Danbury. She was born in South Portland, ME, the daughter of Michael R. and Alice G. (Johnson) Keough. She was a graduate of Gorham Normal School in Gorham, ME, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree In Education from Central Conn. State College.
Prior to her marriage, she taught in Fairhaven, MA, Norwood, MA, and Portland, ME, from 1961 to 1975 she taught Language Arts at Nathaniel White Middle School in Cromwell. She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Cromwell and a member of the following organizations: Past Presidents' Club of St. John's Women's Guild, St. John's Women's Guild, Cromwell Historical Society (Charter Member), Cromwell Home Club, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Holy Apostles College Women's Guild, University of Maine Alumni Assoc., Central Conn. State College Alumni Assoc., Assoc. of Retired Teachers of Middlesex County, Inc. and the Assoc. of Retired Teachers of Connecticut, Inc.
She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Alice (Ward) and John Laczak of Barkhamstead; four sons and daughters-in-law; Michael R. and Janet of Contoocook, NH, Christopher P. and Lindsay of Sherman, David F. and Colleen of Fair Oaks, CA, and Lawrence J. and Judy of Guilford, CT; a sister, Dorothy Keough Curran of S. Portland, ME; nine grandchildren;
and two great grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Jan, 28, at John's Church in Cromwell, followed by burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be sent to Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell or to the organization the donor's choice. Rose Hill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
