James Frank Fucini, 73, of Cromwell, beloved husband of Teresa (Curzio) Fucini for fifty years, passed away on Wednesday, (August 17, 2011) with his wife and children by his side at Middlesex Hospital.

Born in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Francesco and Olympia (Scagliola) Fucini. James lived in Cromwell since 1974 and taught at Cromwell High School for several years before moving on to New Britain High School where he taught physics. He was a very dedicated teacher who was an avid reader, lover of the NY Times, and crossword puzzles. He was a lifelong Dodgers fan, and he and his wife made yearly trips to major league stadiums to watch the Dodgers play. James enjoyed theater, movies, movie popcorn, classical music and opera and made many trips to Tanglewood. He loved to travel, study maps and geography and was a human GPS. James was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved people and always went the extra mile to help them.

Along with his wife, Teresa, he is survived by his son, Michael Fucini of Cromwell; two daughters, Stephanie Owens of Waterford and Jill Fucini of Cromwell; a sister, Evelyn Lucchini of Berlin; three "Superkids" grandchildren, Michaela and Angelina Owens and Jaime Rankins, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Fucini, earlier this year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, (August, 23, 2011) at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell, and interment will follow in West Cemetery in Cromwell. Friends may call on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell and in lieu of flowers may make donations in James's memory to Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), PO Box 5022, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5022 or Oxfam America, National Mail Processing Center, PO Box 7011, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8011.
