Everett Dagle

Everett A. Dagle, 97, of Cromwell, husband of the late Rose (D’Alfonso) Dagle, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at home.

Born Nov. 19, 1911, he was the son of the late Dalis and Emma (Kennedy) Dagle. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1934-54. He served with the Atlantic and Pacific fleets during World War II, and retired from the navy with the rank of chief petty officer. Subsequently, he worked for 21 years as custodian at Cromwell High School, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed athletic activities throughout his life, with a special passion for golf, playing until the age of 90. He was a dedicated New York Yankees fan and took great pleasure in reading mystery novels and playing cribbage.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan Dagle and James Kittredge of Providence, R.I., and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters, including Wilfred Dagle, Norman Dagle, Evelyn (Dagle) Brown, Royden Dagle and Walter Dagle.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call at Rose Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cromwell High School’s athletics programs may be made to CHS-Everett Dagle Memorial Fund, Cromwell High School, Donald Harris Drive, Cromwell, CT 06416.
