Marjorie Brainerd

Marjorie Joan (Drew) Brainerd, 83, of Cromwell, wife of the late Edward R. Brainerd, passed away on Friday, May 21st at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Nelson) Drew. Marjorie lived most of her life in Cromwell and was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Rocky Hill.

She was a member for over fifty years and a past Grand Royal Matron Order of the Amaranth, member of Eastern Star and past Queen of the Daughters of Nile Aisha #83 Temple.

She is survived by her son, E. Russell Brainerd, Jr. and his wife, Dianne of Cromwell; two daughters, Gale Anderson and her husband, Larry of Rocky Hill and Laura Brainerd of Berlin; a sister, Margaret Johnson of Cromwell; five grandchildren, Kathy , Michael, and Kristen Anderson, Elisa Camera, and Heather Cappello; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Berggren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27th at 10:00am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 331 Orchard Street, Rocky Hill with Rev. William Veinot officiating. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell and in lieu of flowers, may make donations in Marjorie's memory to Amaranth Scholarship Fund c/o Stephanie Boudreau, 21 Munson Street, Milford, CT 06460.
