December 22, 2007 I received this email from a French woman and wonder if anyone has contact information for Robert Marchi from the Class of '70, and would tell him about this. If you don't read French, it basically says that she also has someone in her family with the same name who bears a slight resemblance to him. The French Robert, a former military pilot, was born in 1919 and died in 1946.

Nov 12, 2007 The new front page that I mentioned quite a while ago has arrived!!! Thank you to my brother David Butler for actually putting it together. The 2006 All Class Reunion has been moved to the Scrapbook section. Everything else is just moved around to make space for letters and news sent in by alumni. This letter from Roger came at about the same time that I first mentioned doing a new front page, so it is not new news, but I had to put something here.

A note from Rick Callahan:

What a fantastic site. I have visited thousands of sites and this one is still one of the best. What you have been able to reconstruct is short of amazing. To any of us that dodged Colin Pushee, or cut a hole in a thick book sneaking a radio in it at World Series time, or remember counting off in 3's for Mr. Denz's PE class, this site is a trip down memory lane that none of us should ever forget. All of our lives have changed countless times, but we always remember the Cromwell High days. Fantastic, simply fantastic.

A note from Roger Capilos:

Dear Sue,

It has been a long time. When you have a high school junior parked in front of your computer it can be like being back in the 60's. No computer access. I really enjoyed the pics of the multi class reunion. If I had been able to attend I'm sure I would have been popular because I would have made everybody look younger.Ever since you made the alumni site available I find Cromwell in my thoughts and dream life more than before. When you drive all day for a living like I do you have plenty of time for memories. I'd like to share some random thoughts.

If you were young in the 1950's do you remember going to restaurants and diners in Middletown and about 20% of the selections on the juke box would be songs in Italian?

If you were watching a Yankee game on t.v.( in black and white ) do you remember how Mel Allen would do a Ballentines beer commercial between innings where he would pour a bottle of beer into a long beer glass and than pick it up and than set it down half empty and say " man, that's living." Boy did I want to grow up fast so I could have a Ballentine. I've had a few.

If you got your hair cut by Fred Marrozi do you remember the green gook that he would rub into your hair. That stuff had to be an earlier version of super glue but I can smell it now like I am back in his chair.

If you were catholic and attended St. Johns Church do you remember the pre airconditioning days when there would be one large fan set up facing the parishoners and some brutal humid sundays you would stand and kneel suffering just waiting for one whisp of a breeze as the fan slowly pivoted. As the priest was about to give his sermon the fan would be turned off and than I would try to guess how many revolutions the ever slowing blades would make before they came to a complete stop.Sermon. What sermon?

Did you work tobacco? Do kids still work tobacco? I could talk about tobacco for an hour but suffice it to say when ever a job is tough I can always stop and think its not tobacco. Not one of those rocky fields when you were moving on your knees and the air felt like a wet sponge. But my friends were in rows on either side of me and we talked like all teens do, like we knew something. We knew everything. Wouldn't it be nice to hear that ignorant bliss for just an hour.

I am sorry I haven't responded to a few friends like Mike Groper who I remember was a quiet guy who became a great athelete over night. And Nancy Dagle and Rich Dagle, hello cousins, what a thrill. I mean it. I'll never forget meeting Rich at McDonalds the day before he shipped out to Nam. That was one of the times I felt my heart break.

That seems to be enough. If you visit S.F. try and say hello.

Nov 4, 2007

Nancy Dagle sent another ID's for the 1928-9 NWS graduation photo. Her father Royden Dagle is in the photo.

July 10, 2007

The photo that Pete Treml sent of the Nathaniel White band has received quite a lot of email trying to get people identified. There are quite a few that everyone agrees on, but I have to say even there was one who EVERYONE agreed on turned out not to be that person when she was asked. So we are still trying to positively ID them. Dick Nixon sent a note with some thoughts on the ID's and I have put that at the bottom of the page.

Marianne Pomstein has been added to the mailroom.

June 20, 2007

A "Then & Now" page for David Schwartz '81, has been added. He has also been added to the mailroom.

June 11, 2007

Several things have been added to the Scrapbook section

Peter Treml sent me a photo of cubscouts taken about 1952-53. An ID is needed on one of them.

Dick Nixon sent his mother's 8th grade graduation photo from Nathaniel White. There were no ID's on the back, so any long time resident of Cromwell with a parent born in the 1915 region take a look. Maybe he or she is there. Dick also sent an earlier Basket ball schedule ('56-'57), programs for The Class of 1960's Senior Class Play and the 1960 Graduation, and a photo of Lillian Adams for the Staff Memorial page.

My brother David is working on a new front page and instead of another page his would have the news, announcements, seekings, updates, etc. right on the front page with an archive for the older stuff. I will be in California this next week so it won't get put up until I get back.

June 7, 2007

I have started a new page, which for now is titled THE NEW PAGE. I am trying to clean up the Index page but for right now this has a couple of emails that I received recently.

I also added a new photo of Roger Capilos and his wife to his Then & Now page

June 2, 2007

John Bergere has sent me a couple of photos of his Dad, Brad Bergere '59 that I have put on a Then & Now page. He said he will send more when he gets them scanned. John & his brother Doug would love to hear from people who knew his Dad back in High School. I put his email onto the mailroom page.

May 21, 2007

Joanne Branciforte Lukasik '60 sent me two more photos from very early classes of Nathaniel White School. I have the 1933 8th Grade graduation and the c. 1930 1st Grade on. They can also be found by looking in the Scrapbook page under "School Children in the earlier years of Cromwell." AOL seems to compress the larger photos, so these do not look as good as the original. If anyone wants a better copy, I can send one.

May 19, 2007

Joanne Branciforte Lukasik '60 sent me a wonderful selection of photos and photo memories from the class of 1960, plus some old photos of Nathaniel White School. I will be away for most of next week so the chances are that there will be nothing new for a little while.

March 5, 2007

I have been uploading more years of the staff pages over the last week. They can all be seen on the staff index site. There are several years that I either did not scan or were not sent originally. February 19, 2007

This has nothing to do with CHS, but I received a photo scan of long ago Cromwell kids (looks like +/- 1900 to me), and said I would see if anyone could identify any of the people.(removed)

One boy has been identified and another tentively identified in the 5th grade class below. They are Donald D'Amato and possibly Richard Erdman. Two of the kiddos in the '60 3rd grade have been given positive IDs. They are Phyllis Lougee and Fred Gengler. Thank you Elaine.
