David R. Leighton
1969 - 2005
David R. Leighton, 36, of Cromwell died Thursday, (October 20, 2005) after 14 years
struggling with Gulf War Illness.
Born October 2, 1969 in Middletown, son of Brian and Gail (Young) Leighton, Sr. of Naugatuck. He was
a life long resident of Cromwell. He was a carpenter before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. during
the Gulf War. After the war he was employed by New England Health and Racquet. David was always an avid
outdoorsmen.
Besides his parents he is survived by his fiancé Anna Dubik of Cromwell; two brothers, Brian Leighton,
Jr. and his wife, Becky and their children, Mackenzie and Brian of Naugatuck, and Lloyd Martin of
Phoenix, AZ; two grandmothers, Gladys Martin of Lathrup, CA, Velma Leighton of Killingworth and a host
of other relatives and friends. He leaves his beloved pet “Roxie”.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield
Ave., Windsor. Burial with military honors will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Windsor. His family will
receive friends Sunday, from 4-7 p.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations
