Donna Lynn (Chambers) Shields, 59, of Middletown, wife of the late Skip Shields, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of Ronald and Janice (Ford) Chambers of Higganum. Donna attended Cromwell Public Schools, graduating Cromwell High School Class of 1974 and was a member of the First Congregational Church. She was a very giving person, even after death still giving through organ donation. A great daughter, mother and friend, Donna lived a life full of love and laughter and will truly be missed. Along with her parents, she is survived by two children, John T. Shields of Meriden and Kate S. Collins and her husband, William of Middletown; granddaughter, Tara Collins; a brother, Scott D. Chambers and his wife, Denise Muggleston of Higganum; three uncles, Robert B. Ford of Deep River, Arthur K. Ford, Jr. of Middletown and Donald F. Ford of Granby; several cousins and her dear friends, "The Rat Pack". A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 355 Main Street, Cromwell. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna's memory may be made to American Cancer Society , 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
