Stephen Ekstrom
1952 - 2002


Stephen Wallin Ekstrom, 49, of Ridge Rd., Cromwell, died Sunday, (June 23, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital.

Born in Hartford, he was the eldest son of Jane (Wallin) Ekstrom of Cromwell and the late Rudolph B. Ekstrom.

Mr. Ekstrom received his B.S. Degree from Central CT State College and his Masters Degree from the University of New Haven in Taxation. He had retired from the Internal Revenue Service and was a self-employed independent tax consultant. An avid lifelong philatelist, Steve was a former officer and active member of the Middletown-Portland Stamp Club. He was a former instructor at Manchester Community College; and commissioner for the Cromwell Fire District; and currently a director for the Capitol Region Federal Credit Union in Wethersfield.

Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Scott W. and his wife, Kathryn (Sciacca) Ekstrom and Jeffrey R. Ekstrom and their children, Scott and Kristofor Ekstrom and Ashley and Ryan Ekstrom, to whom he was a devoted uncle and source of inspiration.

Funeral services will be held at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main St., Cromwell on Wednesday, June 26, 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Douglas G.J. VanVeldhuisen will officiate and interment will be in the Swedish Cemetery in Portland. Friends may visit the online guest book at www.cromwell funeralhome.com.
