Linda (Engel) Labonosky
1949 - 2025
Linda (Engel) Labonosky, age 76, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on February 26, 2025. She was born on January 23, 1949 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
Linda attended Cromwell High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Labonosky. While raising their family in Cromwell, Linda worked at the Edna C. Stevens Elementary school for 31 years, serving as a reading interventionist and teacher’s aide for many children with different needs. She dedicated these years to this important service, and loved it. She was also an active member of the union and the union president for the teacher’s aide unit for a number of years in the Cromwell school district.
Linda enjoyed camping with her family, burying pots and pans to find for the next camping trip, sitting by the fire and talking, and playing cards. She weaved beautiful baskets, spent time gardening and growing her own vegetables with her husband, and she loved cooking healthy food for her family. She also enjoyed baking muffins, pies, cakes and cookies, especially tons of Christmas cookies that she shared with family and friends! She was known to take in rescue dogs that were sick or abused, and took care of them until the end. She loved to go on walks and hikes and enjoyed nature. She loved to decorate and bake for every holiday. She enjoyed the simple things in life with a kind and light-hearted spirit, and a lot of laughter. She will be remembered as unselfish, loving, and caring by all who knew her.
