It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Andrew "Andy" Donald Doherty, Sr., who passed away
peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Oak Creek, Colorado, at the
age of 76. Born in Hartford Connecticut, a passionate
outdoorsman, Andy enjoyed spending his free time fishing,
hiking, kayaking and mountain biking - activities that
brought him immense joy and connected him to nature. He
was a true adventurer at heart.
For 40 years prior to his retiring, he owned and operated an
Audio/Video retail company and a Home Automation
Installation company in Maryland, where he built a reputation
for his ingenuity and commitment to quality service.
After retiring Andy moved to Colorado to enjoy his well-
deserved retirement years, surrounded by the mountains he
loved and to pursue his passion for exploring the beautiful
outdoors.
Andy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is
survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie (Holston)
Doherty; daughter Aprille Doherty (Trey Detwiler) of PA.; son
Andrew Doherty, Jr. (Stephanie) of MD; and his cherished
grandchildren, Cole and Lily Gonzalez, Jaxon and Preston
Doherty, and Bradyn, Bella and Aubrie Detwiler. He is also
survived by his sister, Cynthia Doherty-Gronvall of VA and his
nieces, nephews and friends. Andy was predeceased by his
parents Donald E. and Majorie (Burdett) Doherty, and his
sister, Audrey (Doherty) McConnaughy.
Andy's legacy is one of love, adventure, and family. His
presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created
will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life, will be held at a later time on the east
coast. All who loved Andy are invited to join.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be
made "In the Memory of Andrew Doherty, Sr."
to the Craig Foundation, 3425 S. Clarkson St. Englewood, CO
80113. Visit www.craighospital.org and click donate. Their
support was truly instrumental in assisting Andy with his
rehabilitation after his spinal cord injury.
