Elaine Kowalewski Tepper
1947 - 2012

Elaine S. Kowalewski, age 65, wife of David Tepper, died on June 3, 2012 in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Chessie (Dobrosielski) Kowalewski. She had lived most of her adult life in Cortlandt Manor, NY and for the last seven years resided in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Elaine was a graduate of Cromwell High School, and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Merrimack College and a Master's Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, both in Mathematics. Her varied work career included 13 years as a computer program designer for ATT, and service as an adjunct professor at several different New York colleges, but mostly Pace University. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, was an avid reader and lover of music and movies, and took great delight in the many cats and dogs that she adopted and cared for throughout her life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael L. Tepper and his wife Laura; and grandson Charles, and Alexander J. Tepper, all of Philadelphia; two sisters, Kathleen A. Kowalewski and Mary Ellen Kowalewski of Cromwell; and many cousins. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in our hearts.

Burial took place at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia on July 14, 2012, and was followed by a Memorial Service at the Unitarian Society of Germantown. A Mass will be celebrated for the intention of the peaceful repose of her soul on Sunday August 19, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joan Karnell Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. Website: http:// www.pennmedicine.org/pahosp/cancer/about/contribute.html.
