1942 - 2023
John D. Shoaf, 80, peacefully passed away on October 8, 2023 at Jacob's Well Assisted Living in Bel Air, Maryland. He was born March 9, 1943 in Hartford, CT to the late, William E. Shoaf and Pauline O. Shoaf.
John graduated in 1961 from Cromwell High School. He then went on to proudly serve 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and in boot camp he was recognized for his outstanding athleticism and performance as a "Human Flag". After his military service, he pursued his love of bodybuilding and as a young man if he wasn't scaling a tree on the job, he could be found at his artist desk sketching comical caricatures.
John is survived by his brother, Robert N. Shoaf and his wife, Linda, his sister, Linda Shoaf Blinn and her husband, Robert, nieces Meaghan Reyna (Pablo), Francine Nelson (Jim), nephews Bobby Blinn (Laura), William Shoaf (Marie), great nephews, Caleb Reyna, Preston Nelson, Jake and Zack Shoaf. He was predeceased by his brother, William P. Shoaf.
Services will be private. The family would like to give special thanks to Amber and Simmi of Jacob's Well Assisted Living for their loving care and devotion to our brother, John.
