Cynthia J. (Hall) Coffey, of William F. Palmer Road, Moodus, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at [Lawrence & Memorial] Hospital in New London. She was born on Sept. 14, 1943, to the late Ralph and Marie (Guida) Hall in Middletown.

Cynthia grew up in Cromwell, where she went to school. Later she graduated from The William W. Backus School of Nursing as an L.P.N. Her career in nursing took place in various settings. She was a hospital nurse, geriatric nurse, and substance-abuse rehabilitation nurse before retiring after a long and successful career of saving lives. While she loved her work, Cynthia loved the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted him as her personal savior first and foremost. She served her church as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Reader.

Cynthia's husband, Melvin A. Coffey, predeceased her. One son, Thomas Coffey, also predeceases her. She is survived by three sons, Robert and his wife Johanna, Sean and his wife Jennifer, and James and his wife Tina Coffey. Also surviving are her brother, Gerald, and his wife, Geneva Hall, her sister Jacquelyn Hall, four grandchildren and three nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 16th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gales Ferry Funeral Home of Church & Allen, Hurlbutt Rd., Gales Ferry. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rte 12, Gales Ferry. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
