H. Richard Carlson passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, surrounded by his family and close friends after a year and half battle with cancer. He was the son of the late John Harold Carlson and Anna Blakely Carlson.

H. Richard is survived by his wife, Janice Groeper Carlson; his sons and daughters-in-law James and Patricia (Young) Carlson and Wayne and Stephanie (Traskos) Carlson all of Middletown; his grandchildren, John, Benjamin, Nicholas, Daniel, Melissa and Jacob Carlson; his sister, Barbara (Carlson) Bartalotta; nephew Michael Bartalotta; niece Donna (Bartalotta) Winter; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother George Edward Carlson.

H. Richard was born in Middletown, raised in Cromwell and has lived in Wallingford for the past 45 years. He served two tours of duty in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan, Virginia, Nebraska and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Unisys Corporation. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his six grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Saturday, July 22 at 10:00 am, both at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Burial will follow in Cromwell Hillside Cemetery West.
