Paul Kleinkauf

Paul E. Kleinkauf, Sr., 74, of Branford, CT, died September 21, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital after an illness. He was born on December 12, 1941 in Wrentham, MA to the late Philip Kleinkauf (Guilford, CT) and the late Helena (McQuestion) Kleinkauf (Worcester, MA). He spent several years of his young life growing up in New Haven, CT. Eventually, he became a resident of The Children's Home of Cromwell (Ädelbrook), from 1954 to 1958, and attended public schools in Cromwell. After he left Children's Home of Cromwell, he resided with his older brother Philip in Madison, CT for several years. He joined Connecticut Laborers District Council as a member of Local Union 455 in the 1980s. He retired after more than 20 years of service with Connecticut Laborers District Council.
Survivors include his wife, Sam Soo (Park) Kleinkauf (Branford, CT); son, Paul Kleinkauf, Jr. (Roswell, GA) and his mother, Celeste Kleinkauf (New Haven, CT); daughter, Kathy (Ralph) Smith (Albuquerque, NM) and her mother, Thea Diegel (Belen, NM); grandchildren, Anya Kleinkauf and Alex Kleinkauf (Roswell, GA), John Smith (Los Lunas, NM), Maryanne (Matthew) McCoy (Wheatridge, CO); a great grandson; sisters, Marie Brazee (Pittsfield, MA), Agnes Durso (Pittsfield, MA), Rose John (Pittsfield, MA); and stepbrother, Jack Costello (North Attleboro, MA). He was preceded in death by his sister, Helena Henault (Phoenix, AZ); brothers, Philip Kleinkauf (Westerly, RI) and Howard Kleinkauf (Waltham, MA).
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 8, at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan's Church, 455 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Ädelbrook, 60 Hicksville Road, Cromwell, CT 06416, Attn: Sharon Graves, in memory of Paul Kleinkauf and the Kleinkauf Family.
