Joanne Passamano Massey
1940-2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joanne Elizabeth (Passamano) Massey, 85, of Cromwell, who peacefully passed away on August 20, 2025.
Born on June 12, 1940, in Middletown, CT, Joanne was the cherished daughter of the late Louis and Jennie (Pagano) Passamano. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard “Larry” Massey, Jr.; her sister, Dottie Passamano; and her brother, Sal Passamano.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherelle Lessard, and husband Mario; her son, Daniel Massey; and her daughter, Anna Pollock. Joanne was a proud grandmother to Alexander, Logan, Austin, Araya, Danielle, and Clayton, and a great-grandmother to three. She also leaves behind her sister, Betty Terrissi, and husband Freddy.
Joanne’s love, strength, and kindness touched everyone she met. Her spirit and treasured friendships will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She was truly one of a kind. She cherished her children and grandchildren, and her love for them knew no bounds. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the State of Connecticut at the Superior Court in Middletown.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on September 8th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Friends may gather prior to the Mass from 9 to 10 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3Silvert Street, Middletown. The burial will be held at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
