It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emilio (Mil) J. Branciforte, 93, beloved husband of Patricia Sinon Branciforte, on December 29, 2024. Mil was born in Cromwell, CT, on February 9, 1931, to James and Rosa (Carta) Branciforte and remained a lifelong resident of Cromwell.
Mil was a proud graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1949. A Korean War Veteran, Mil served his country honorably in the Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant-one of his most cherished achievements. After his discharge, he embarked on a 32-year career at United Technologies Research Center, where he earned six patent awards.
Mil was a licensed ham radio operator and a talented woodworker. He loved making whirly gigs and was also an avid reader.
In addition to his devoted wife of 46 years, Mil is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Sebastian, Carl, Angelo, Peter, Mary, and Concettina Branciforte; Mary Certo; Josephine Monarca; and Dolores Russo.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Additional visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 7, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Church, 5 St. Johns Court, Cromwell. A military funeral service will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
