Joseph J. Stroneski, a former teacher in the Cromwell schools, died at his home in Cromwell Sunday, April 9, . He was 70.
Mr. Stroneski taught in Cromwell for 38 years until his retirement in 1987. He taught history at the high school for much of his career. He also served on the board of the Federal Teachers Credit Union in Middletown for several years.
He lived in Cromwell all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a prisoner of war in Germany.
Mr. Stroneski leaves two sons, Brice J. Stroneski of Cromwell and Vance J. Stroneski of Middletown; a brother, John Stroneski of Salem; and two sisters, Bertha Duran of Cromwell and Elsie Eggleson of New London.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main St., Cromwell, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. John Church, Cromwell. Burial with full military honors will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
