Gertrude Marie Rose, 89, of Cromwell, wife of the late Christopher E. Rose, Jr., died on Thursday, July 27th at Nutmeg Pavilion, New London. Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of the late Edward Morrison and Beatrice (Canning) Morrison Johnson and lived in Cromwell since1941.
She was a member of St. Johns Church in Cromwell for more than 50 years where she was head of St. Johns Ladies Guild and President of the Catholic Daughters of America; and had worked in the cafeteria in Cromwell High School until 1987.
She is survived by two sons,
Christopher Richard Rose and his wife Nella of Lady Lake, FL and Mark W. Rose and his wife Cindy of Cromwell;
four daughters,
Barbara Ponse of Malibu, CA,
Margaret Scarrozzo and her husband Vincent of Middletown,
Sara Slate and her husband Donald of East Providence, RI, and Michelle A. Rose and her partner Sharan Novak of Keene, NH;
one sister, Dorothea Dagle and her husband Walter of Cromwell; and twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29th at Holy Apostles Seminary, 33 Prospect Hill Rd., Cromwell at 3:00 pm where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Private interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, at the convenience of the family.
