Leon McClendon

Leon McClendon, the owner of L & L Restaurant in East Hampton, died Sunday at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was 54 and had lived in the Moodus section of East Haddam for the past three years.

The restaurant, on Route 66, serves breakfast and lunch. Mr. McClendon had owned it for three years and was actively managing it until the time of his death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

A son, James McClendon, and Mr. McClendon's parents, John and Ida Boddie McClendon, are deceased.

Mr. McClendon leaves his wife, Lori Boucher McClendon; two daughters, Regina McClendon of Cromwell and Janet Grant of Middletown; two sisters, Ruby Copeland and Lotti Mae Dugger, both of Georgia; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, with the Rev. Steven Small, minister of First Church of Christ Congregational, East Haddam, officiating. Burial will follow in First Church of Christ Congregational Cemetery, East Haddam. Friends may call at Spencer Funeral Home today between 7 and 9 p.m.
