Elizabeth "Liz" Johnson
Liz Johnson, 60, of Windsor Connecticut, passed away on January 9th at the Harford Hospital. She was born December 14, 1957 in Middletown, Connecticut to the late Dave and Ann (Crowther) Johnson.
Ms. Johnson is survived by her beloved sister Kathy Johnson of Cromwell, Connecticut and her beloved brother Bruce Johnson of Hollywood, Maryland. In addition, she leaves two nieces, Katie Davis of Glen Burnie, MD and Ali Johnson of California, MD as well as a nephew, Michael Johnson of Hollywood, MD.
Liz graduated from Cromwell High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master's Degree from the University of Connecticut. She was a nurse practitioner and worked in the field of psychiatric nursing for 38 years, most recently in private practice. She dedicated her life to treating patients and helping them cope with the disease of mental illness. Liz helped a great many people throughout her career to live healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives.
In addition to her medical career, Liz volunteered at Tails in Motion, a horseback riding program for children suffering from physical and mental disorders. She also volunteered at the Windsor Public Library as well as The Cat Connection, a no kill animal shelter in Windsor.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Friends of Windsor Animal Care and Control.
