Beverly Jean (Leghorn) Jirele
1953 - 2022
Beverly Jean (Leghorn) Jirele, of Cromwell, passed away on September 11, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital one week before her 69th birthday. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late W. Norman Leghorn and the late Kathleen (Tarbert) Leghorn who passed on September 22, 2022.
Beverly lived in Cromwell most of her life graduating Cromwell High School Class of 1971. In the 1980’s she lived in Marco Island, FL working for the Marriott Corp. She returned to Connecticut and went to Middlesex Community Technical College graduating in 1997 with Associates in Science. Beverly continued her education at Southern Connecticut State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She completed her nursing residency program at Middlesex Hospital in 2001.
Beverly loved traveling with family as a young girl to places like England, France, Puerto Rico and Ireland. Her favorite trip was in 2000 with her brothers, cousins and niece to Ireland for a family reunion. Beverly was also a great caregiver to her Mom for many years.
Beverly’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who helped in her care, Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital, MHS Primary Care of Portland, Apple Rehab of Cromwell and Middlesex Hospital Weiss Hospice Unit.
Beverly is survived by two brothers, Robert Leghorn and his wife Dawn of Bolton, Kent Leghorn and his wife Debra of Portland; her beloved nieces and nephews, Zac, Erin, Kelly and Eric Leghorn; grand niece Audrey Leghorn and Bev’s cherished dog, Bandy.
Funeral services will be held for Beverly and her Mom on Friday, October 21st at 11:00 am at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Family and friends may call Friday morning before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s memory may be made to Closer to Free Fund for Smilow Cancer Hospital at www.GIVETOYNHH.org. or Middlesex Hospital Weiss Hospice, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
