Gene Ann Going Brainerd

Eugenia "Gene" Ann (Going) Brainerd, 71, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022, after a long illness. Born November 25, 1950, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Rose (Naples) Going.
Gene's love of family, children, and animals, best describes her life. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and singing karaoke. She was an avid Red Socks fan and loved to follow baseball both on the local and national level. Her disabilities never prohibited her from making friends and meeting new people.
Gene leaves behind her husband of thirty-seven years, Sanford Brainerd; sisters, Nancy Clayton (Tom) and RoseMary (Going) Frederick; nephew, Michael Clayton; niece, Alice Straight (Brian); great-niece, Nicola Straight; great-nephew, James Straight; two aunts, one uncle and multiple cousins. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the administration and staff of Wadsworth Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care that Gene received from them, especially from Mary and Madelyn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church, 355 Main Street, Cromwell.
