William LeBlanc

SOUTH PORTLAND [Maine] — William Emile LeBlanc passed away on Jan. 21, at his home.
William Emile LeBlanc was born on May 26, 1947 in Portland, ME. In 1956, he moved with his family to Cromwell, CT and completed his schooling at Cromwell High School and as a psychology major at Connecticut State University.
During college, he married his first wife Patty and had a child, Erich, in 1969. He married Betty, his second wife, in 1977 but divorced after two years. He pursued employment as a private investigator for a few years but eventually found his calling as a salesman for Nilfisk vacuum company. He relocated for work in Marietta, GA and met Valerie (Reagan) Davis. They married in 1987 and moved to Caledon East, Ontario, Canada for his employment. In 1989, they had a daughter, Lindsay LeBlanc. After four years, Bill decided to move back to Maine, finding a house in Scarborough. He and Valerie divorced in 1994. He continued work as a salesman but selling janitorial supplies and then eventually working for many different companies that sold advertisement on the movie screen. He moved to South Portland with his daughter in 1997. After having a stroke, he retired in 2009. Two years later he broke his back and spent most of his time at home recuperating.
Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting stamps, reading National Geographic, cooking, and traveling. He traveled for Nilfisk and was able to see a lot of Europe. He also traveled with his daughter to Disney World, Germany, Paris, France, and London, England. During his retirement he still enjoyed watching TV shows about fishing and traveling even though he couldn't physically go out to see those places. Since 1994, Bill was largely involved with the community at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. He became part of the Knights of Columbus and was the Grand Knight just before his passing.
He was predeceased by his parents Roland W. LeBlanc and Mary Lou (Bragdon) LeBlanc. He will be dearly missed and is survived by his daughter Lindsay, his sister Karen (LeBlanc) Grady, and his niece and nephews, Elizabeth, Dan, and Tom, their children, and his cousins.
A service will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Scarborough, Maine on Monday, January 28, at 1 p.m., followed by a reception.
