Dorothea (Dorie) Krashan Shaw
1946 - 2021
Dorothea Beth (Krashan) Shaw, 75, beloved wife of Lester W. Shaw III for 56 years, of Avon, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021. Born in Middletown, daughter of the late Joseph and Hilve (Sjovall) Krashan, she was raised in Cromwell. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1964 and attended hairdressing school in Hartford.
She and her husband, Lester, moved to Avon in 1978 where they raised their children. She later was employed by the Ensign-Bickford Company in Simsbury, for many years before retiring. Dorie enjoyed being with friends at “Wives” club in Cromwell during the 1970’s and at a weekly group, later in Avon, that played Dominos for years. She also enjoyed being part of the Simsbury Garden Club and the Red Hot Mama’s of Avon (Red Hat Society). She also had her own craft business, “Crafty Creations” where she sold her creations at craft fairs all over the area with the help of her husband Lester. She loved to bake and create special cakes for all types of family celebrations including weddings.
Besides her husband Lester she leaves a son Lester W. Shaw IV and his wife Nann of Avon; her daughter Dorie S. Landers of Glastonbury; known as “Gaga” to her grandchildren, Ryan and Madison Landers and Jonathan Shaw; her sister Linnea Sheets of Islamorda, FL.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law William B. Landers and her brother Charles Krashan.
Her family will receive friends Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon followed by a Memorial Service at 7 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
