Michael Swol
1945 - 2021


Michael Joseph Swol, 75 of Cromwell, husband of the late Mary-Joe (Martino) Swol, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Hartford Hospital on April 15, 2021. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Stanley M. Swol, Sr. and Nellie (Dykas) Swol. Mike was a member of St John Church in Cromwell and had lived in Cromwell all of his life. He had been employed at Ripley Co. for over 35 years, was a member of the Cromwell Fish and Game Club, and the Knights of Columbus Desoto Council #6, Cromwell. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed going to car and tractor shows. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and was a collector and fixer of all things mechanical. Mike's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandson.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Swol-DeGumbia and her husband Martin of Middletown; his grandson Michael DeGumbia; his faithful companion, his black lab Vegas; his longtime girlfriend, Roberta Miller of Cromwell; two brothers, Raymond W. Swol of East Hampton and Stanley M. Swol, Jr. of Cromwell, and a sister Margaret "Peggy" Langer of Higganum.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 22nd at 11:00 am in Cromwell Hillside Cemetery West, Hillside Road in Cromwell. Family and friends may call at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell on Wednesday, April 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. where masks and social distancing will be required.
