Doris (Ostergren) Hennessey

Doris Ann (D.A.) Hennessey, 80, passed away on January 27, 2018, at her home in The Villages, FL.

Nee Doris Ann Ostergren, she was born on May 20, 1937, in Middleton, CT, and graduated from Middleton High School in 1955. She then became a teacher's aide in the Cromwell, CT school system for many years. She also ran the hot lunch program at the Fox Glenn retirement community, also in Cromwell.

Doris served her community as president of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Post 105, in Cromwell, CT. Later on, she became a longtime Friend of the Sabbath Day Lake Shaker community in New Gloucester, Maine. Doris's favorite hobbies included cooking for her family and friends and crocheting afghans for the needy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard G. Hennessey. She is also survived by her son Kevin M. Hennessey, and daughter-in-law Theresa P. Hennessey, both of Bolton, CT.

Doris is preceded in death by her father Carl Herbert Ostergren, and her mother, Florence Wyer Ostergren, and her sister Jean Partridge.

Doris will be cremated, and her remains will be interred in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Doris's name.
